Lightweight and durable
The PREFA roof tiles was developed over 75 years ago. In the post-war years, tinsmith Alois Gödl was on the hunt for robust roofing tiles that wouldn’t break. He landed on a metal roof because it is durable but at the same time lightweight. Aluminium fulfils these criteria perfectly. We’ve been refining our aluminium roof tiles ever since, in particular with a view to making installation simpler and quicker. Our lightweight PREFA aluminium roof tiles can be laid on flat roofs with a pitch of just 12°.
Aluminium tiles from PREFA are distinguished by being very low-maintenance and give roofs a subtle, reserved and traditional look reminiscent of the classic brick tile roof. The high-quality P.10 surface has a matte finish but is still resistant to frost damage, rust, cracking, splitting and blistering, making it extremely weather-proof.
Years of valuable experience gathered in the Alps
Thanks to the patented fold-and-fasten system, roofs covered with PREFA roof tiles can withstand even extreme wind speeds. Their widespread use, especially in the Alpine regions, has been giving us valuable insights for decades in terms of the storm-proofing and durability of PREFA products, even in extreme situations. The advantage: PREFA offers a 40-year guarantee on its aluminium even under extreme conditions.

Expert tip: The noise-insulating strips make the PREFA roof tile quieter
Aluminium roofs are quieter than their reputation would have you believe. Everyone perceives noise differently. The PREFA roof tile has noise-insulating strips (FD.TEC) to keep noise levels to a minimum. For even more comfort in residential buildings, we recommend additionally using a thicker separation layer.

Roof structure when using PREFA roof tiles
PREFA aluminium roofs are produced with a ventilated sub-structure, with the roof cover and thermal insulation layer separated by a ventilated gap. This means any occasional condensation, for example, can be wicked away.
It is mostly the roof membrane that is ventilated, as shown in the first two pictures. However, the entire attic can be ventilated too (third picture).
